- Peeping At Penguins (K-2)
Black and white is back at the movie theaters in a big way, but not in the same way that your grandparents know black and white films…. No, this invasion of black and white is in the form of penguins! From marching to dancing, penguins are moving across the screen a lot these days, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, I’m here as a representative from Emperor Productions, a film company from Hollywood. And I want you to help me! My name is Adelie Rockhopper. I’m working on making a movie about penguins and I’m contracting you to be my research developers. - Weather Wizards (K-2)
Sally Focaster is the elderly lady in your town that everybody loves. Sally has just one problem. Everybody in the town thinks that she knows everything about the weather because of her last name. But really Sally does not know much about the weather or different weather disasters. There are two major weather disasters that have occurred in your town before and are likely to occur again. Will you help Sally Forcaster learn more about these two disasters. She is counting on you to help her out!!!
- A Quilt to Freedom (K-5)
“A Quilt to Freedom” asks students to research important African American leaders and events. After answering a variety of questions, students will create quilt pieces detailing their leader or event in history.
- Who’s Behind the Book? (K-2)
Do you ever imagine your favorite author or illustrator working at creating their next book? Imagine Eric Carle cutting and pasting thin pieces of tissue paper into the shape of a caterpillar. Or Bill Martin, Jr. writing rhymes for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Think about some of your favorite books. How did they come about? Who are the people who write and illustrate the books you love?
- United States Monuments (K-2)
Our class is going to take a trip across the United States. We will see many different monuments. (A monument is a building or statue that honors a person or an event.) Grab your cameras and let’s go!
- Journey to Japan (K-5)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be live in another country? What would be different? What would be the same? What would you eat for breakfast? What games would you play? Our class is going to journey to Japan and find out how Japanese children live. You will become a Japanese child, choose a Japanese name, and tell us about your family, your school, and your favorite things to do.
